Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are the Anti Money Laundering Certifications offered by FIBA in partnership with FIU?

A. There are two AML certifications available through FIBA and FIU.  The FIBA-FIU AML Certification - Associate Level is designed for the beginner to intermediate level AML Compliance Officer, BSA analyst, and others who work under the supervision of the senior anti money laundering compliance manager. The FIBA-FIU AML Certification - Professional Level in AML is appropriate for the AML Compliance Managers who are responsible for the entire AML program at their institution.

Q. How are the Certifications granted?

A. In order to receive the FIBA-FIU Certified Associate in AML or the FIBA-FIU Certified Professional in AML Certification, the students must take the courses and successfully pass the online test given by Florida International University.

Q. How can I apply?

A. The application process consists of registering for the program at www.fiba.net or calling FIBA at (305) 579-0086 and paying the course fee.

Q. English is not my primary language, am I still able to participate?

A. Yes. All of the courses are currently taught in English, however, FIBA  & FIU is in the process of developing an online FIBA-FIU Certified Associate in AML course in both English and Spanish.  Some of the course exams are offered both in English and Spanish.

Q. Can I take the certification courses if I don't reside in the United States?

A. Yes.  Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing are global issues.  Any bank conducting international business must have a robust, world-class anti money laundering program in place.  The Certifications will demonstrate to regulators and correspondents worldwide that you have mastered the appropriate level of knowledge in Anti Money Laundering.  The FIBA AML Institute is in the process of developing an online FIBA-FIU AML Certification - Associate Level course in both English and Spanish.  We are also capable of instructing in-house programs outside the United States in English or Spanish.

Q. Are the courses available "in-house"?

A.  All FIBA courses are available as "in house" programs world-wide in both English or Spanish.  The Private Banking AML Course is only available as a public course when it is offered in Miami.  FIBA can offer this course outside of Miami as an in-house program.
