The Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA), Inc is a non profit trade association founded in 1979. Its membership includes banks from 18 countries spanning 4 continents, including some of the largest banks from Europe, the U.S. and Latin America that are active in international trade and finance in our hemisphere.
FIBA has long been recognized by industry peers and regulators for its serious commitment to the growth of international trade and finance. FIBA also takes a proactive position in education, offering in person and on line training in nearly every area of international banking.
The FIBA AML Institute, in partnership with Florida International University (FIU), was founded by FIBA in 2005 to provide practical training and industry best practices in AML (Anti Money Laundering), with a Certification granted jointly by the FIBA AML Institute and FIU.
FIBA holds annual conferences on specialized topics, the largest one being the FIBA AML Compliance Conference, held annually in February in Miami. This is the largest AML conference in the United States, and is attended by bankers, consultants, attorneys, regulators and law enforcement from over 40 countries.
FIBA works closely with FELABAN (the Federation of Latin American Banks), which represents over 500 banks throughout Central and South America. FIBA hosts their prestigious FELABAN Annual Assembly every other year in Miami.
This is the largest private sector banking conference in our hemisphere.
As a leading trade organization focused on international banking and finance, FIBA frequently travels to Washington DC, submits comment letters and position papers, and is a respected voice in the industry.
